Collection

A private collection with an international reputation

The Whitechapel Gallery in London, the last major stop for the approximately thirty international exhibitions organised with pieces from the ”la Caixa” Contemporary Art Collection.
The ”la Caixa” Collection is one of the most complete private collections in Europe.
Works created at significant times in the career of each artist.
The Collection was started in the 1980s and, since then, 175 exhibitions have been held.

Achievements in 2019

Calls for grant applications. More support for creativity in Spain and Portugal. With the aim of encouraging artistic creation, ”la Caixa”" Foundation holds two biennial calls for Spanish and Portuguese creators. The Call for Production is aimed at artists aged over 18 who have an incipient project with another organisation (museum, curator or institution) which requires new works. The Call for Curators is aimed at curators aged under 40 who have carried out at least three exhibitions.

Cultural alliances
with Portugal

“Olafur Eliasson”, the first individual exhibition in Portugal, thanks to the collaboration between ”la Caixa” Foundation with the Fundação de Serralves (Oporto).

“Joaquín Sorolla”, in Lisbon. Together with the Sorolla Museum and in collaboration with ”la Caixa” Foundation, this exhibition, which began in 2018 at the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga (Lisbon), continued in 2019.

“Museu das Descobertas”. ”la Caixa” Foundation is collaborating with this exhibition at the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga in Lisbon.

“Álvaro Pires de Évora”. ”la Caixa” Foundation is collaborating on this major exhibition project at the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga, together with the Polo Museale della Toscana.
