Committed to a fairer world

For more than 20 years, ”la Caixa” Foundation has been creating opportunities and cooperating with the most vulnerable groups around the world. Through international partnerships, it promotes global health programmes, especially in the fight against pneumonia and malaria; treating and preventing malnutrition among refugee children; promoting job creation for women and young people, and encouraging the formation and strengthening of civil society organisations.
Together with Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance and in collaboration with ISGlobal, it promotes the Alliance for Child Vaccination.
It develops the ARIDA (Acute Respiratory Infection Diagnostic Aid) programme in collaboration with UNICEF.
In collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, it promotes the MALTEM programme against malaria in Southern Mozambique.

This annual report explains the link between the programmes of ”la Caixa” Foundation and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Highlights

Achievements in 2019

An award has been given to Work4Progress, a programme that aims to create sustainable, good quality employment among women and young people in India, Mozambique and Peru.

One of its initiatives has received the Iberdrola Prize for Energy Cooperation 2019. This corresponds to three electric rickshaw companies in India that are run by women and serve women and girls.

Scholarships to 50 Syrian students, as a result of the collaboration between"”la Caixa” Foundation and the Global Platform for Syrian Students (GP-4SYS ).

Course on Managing Science in Lisbon and Barcelona, in collaboration with the Fundação Calouste Foundation, for managers of health research centres in Portuguese-speaking countries.

The CooperantesCaixa programme has provided projects with specialist assistance in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
