”la Caixa” was founded by the humanist Francesc Moragas with the aim of promoting savings, ensuring a dignified old age, eradicating disease and offering a better future to the working classes and the most disadvantaged. The values and founding principles of "la Caixa" have become firmly established over its 115-year history, focusing particularly on programmes with the greatest impact and power to transform.
Committed to local socio-economic development, right from the start ”la Caixa” provided social, cultural and civic services to improve people's quality of life.
